As described on Facebook and in recent media accounts, #mvhsdowntown continues to take shape:
- NYS Health Department has granted the necessary Certificate of Need for the project.
- A required environmental review is underway.
- 40-50% of the 35 property owners in the project footprint have signed, or are in the process of signing, purchase option agreements.
- Three property owners have publicly indicated that they would prefer the eminent domain process to a purchase option agreement; the City of Utica and Oneida County have committed to taking that step, if it becomes necessary.
A growing number of community residents, businesses and organizations support the area’s largest public-private investment ever, one that will transform Downtown Utica and support regional healthcare.
